I am a Certified Career and Technology teacher (CTE) and enjoy working with middle school students to help them become life long learners. At Cedar Park Christian School, I managed my own classroom where I taught grade 9-12 students about applied art & design, business & marketing, and web & technology. I am a current Northshore School District substitute for classroom teaching for grades 6-12 and School Technology Specialist (STS).
I immigrated to the United States from Canada and the Seattle area has been my home for nearly 20 years. I grew up in the Vancouver area of Canada and continued on to university and started my career in Canada. I am proud to call the PNW my home, and I am grateful for the opportunities I have had since moving to America. I love living here!
Previous to becoming a Washington State certified educator, I was a Design Project Manager in the Seattle area. I have consulted on design projects for Microsoft and PNI Media; provided marketing assistance for Nintendo; managed art production and created graphic design for Microsoft, Kodak, Costco, Walmart, Jim Pattison Group, Loblaws Companies, as well as for various charities; I have assisted researchers and event planners at WorkSafeBC.
I have done technical writing, copywriting and technical documentation for various disciplines ranging from galleries and museums to chemistry and technology for both hardware and software applications.
I earned a BFA from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver Campus) in Visual Art and Theory and can speak to the limitations of various philosophies and approaches to design. My goal as an educator is to describe and cultivate an atmosphere to follow best practices for business and technology techniques, methodologies and ethics.
I am excited that I can help educate students on how to solve artistic, logistic and technical challenges by using Design Thinking and Design Operation strategies while providing a platform for students to add their personal faith into their decision making.
